Zero Tolerance Policy

Zero Tolerance Policy

Our practice team is committed to treating all patients and their representatives with courtesy, dignity and respect. We kindly ask that the same courtesy is shown to all members of our staff.

The NHS operates a Zero Tolerance Policy towards any form of abusive or violent behaviour. To protect our staff, patients and visitors, the practice reserves the right to remove from our list any patient who behaves in a violent, aggressive or abusive manner.

We will not tolerate any form of aggression, whether verbal, physical or written. This includes shouting, swearing, threats, intimidation, or any behaviour that causes another person to feel distressed or unsafe. Any such incident may result in the individual being reported to the police and removed from our practice list.

“Violence” includes actual or threatened physical harm, as well as verbal abuse that leads a member of staff or another person to fear for their safety. If removal from our list is necessary, we will notify the patient in writing and record both the decision and the circumstances in their medical record.

Our aim is to provide a safe, supportive environment for everyone—thank you for helping us to maintain it.

Social Media Zero Tolerance Policy

Following recent activity on social media in which patients have posted derogatory comments about the practice and members of our team, we have introduced a Social Media Zero Tolerance Policy.

If such posts are brought to our attention, they may be considered a breakdown in the doctor–patient relationship. This could result in the individual being removed from our practice list.

Where appropriate, we may contact those involved and invite them to discuss any concerns with the Practice Manager or a GP Partner. We are always willing to explore issues and work towards a resolution.

We welcome feedback as it helps us review and improve the care and services we provide. However, we kindly ask that instead of posting negative or harmful comments online, you speak with us directly or submit your concerns in writing. This allows us the opportunity to respond constructively.

Posting derogatory or offensive comments online can cause significant distress to our staff and may discourage other patients from seeking medical care when they need it.

Please consider the impact of your online activity before posting.
