Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners can diagnose, treat and prescribe providing complete episodes of individualised evidence based care for patients with a wide variety and range of presenting problems and healthcare needs including chronic disease management of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. The team is made up of Michelle (Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Practice Nurse Manager), Mary-Anne and Katrina.

MICHELLE FULLERTON

Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Practice Nurse Manager who can diagnose, treat and prescribe providing complete episodes of individualised evidence based care for patients with a wide variety and range of presenting problems and healthcare needs. Nurse Fullerton works Monday to Friday

MARY-ANNE CAMPBELL

Nurse Practitoner who can diagnose and treat and prescribe for minor illness and injury, also general practice nursing. Chronic disease management of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. Works Monday to Friday

KATRINA BROCKWAY

Advanced Nurse Practitioner who can diagnose, treat and prescribe providing complete episodes of individualised evidence based care for patients with a wide variety and range of presenting problems and healthcare needs. Works Monday - Friday

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions long-term conditions such as Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Hypertension and Contraception. Cervical smears and Childhood immunisations.

NICOLA C

A highly skilled Nurse trained to a high level in caring for our patients with long term conditions such as Asthma, and COPD amongst others as well as performing cervical screening, baby immunisations, consultations regarding minor illness and many other health concerns. Works Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

LINDA B

A highly skilled practice nurse experienced in dressings, ECG's, NHS Health Checks, Mental Health Checks, Baby Immunisations and Cervical Smears. Works Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

KAITLYN J

Practice nurse with experience in immunisations, woundcare, travel health and cervical screening. Involved in assessment and care planning for patients with a background of paediatric training. Kaitlyn is currently working one day a week with the practice and will be increasing to four days a week in March 2025

Paramedics

Paramedics are able to free up GP time by helping people with less complicated medical needs and by offering home visits during the day. They offer specialist skills and knowledge to support patients who might require an urgent home visit. They can also support patients in the surgery or provide advice over the phone and are also qualified to prescribe medications.

Care Co-ordinators

Providing lifestyle advice; annual health checks; well person checks; NHS Health Checks and height, weight and blood pressure checks for all controlled medications.

Physiotherapist

Physiotherapy services are provided at Great Oakley Medical Centre. They can provide treatment for various conditions. Patients can either speak with a clinician to be referred or contact our reception team to request an appointment with the physiotherapist.

Pharmacists

Advises staff and patients on medication and prescribing issues.

Social Prescribers

Social Prescribing is a free service available to adults (18+) who are ready to make a change in their lives to improve their health and wellbeing. A Social Prescribing Link Worker will support you to access activities and services within your community, enabling you to improve your health and wellbeing helping you to stay well. How does it work? A member of your GP practice team may suggest a referral to the Social Prescribing Service. A Social Prescribing Link Worker will make contact with you to talk to you and find out more about what you would like help with. The link worker can arrange an appointment at a time and place convenient to you. A SOCIAL PRESCRIBER IS: • Confidential, practical, helpful, non-judgemental • Someone who can help you to decide what you’d like to do to improve your health and wellbeing by finding you activities that will suit you • Someone to support you on your way SERVICES AVAILABLE MAY INCLUDE: • Healthy lifestyles and activities • Arts, music, outdoors and creative • Befriending, counselling, support • Housing benefits, financial advice • Employment, training and volunteering • Education and learning • Access to specialist services

Videoed Consultations

A very important part of the training of doctors is to use videotaped recordings of consultations to assess the doctor’s competence and to help them develop their consultation skills. Video recordings of consultations are used for assessment and may be viewed outside the practice by assessors who do not know the doctor or the patient. Every consultation that is video-recorded is done with the informed consent of the patient. That means that the patient understands that the recording is being made, the purposes for which it will be used, who will see it and how long it will remain in existence. No coercion will be used to persuade the patient to agree to the recording.

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services

Assistant Practice Manager

The Assistant Practice Manager assists the Manager in running the business and is also the Manager responsible for Compliments and Complaints and the Administration Manager for Safeguarding.

Reception

Our Receptionist/Care Navigators provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. They make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform a large number of other important tasks such as dealing with patient registrations and deductions, tasks from the doctors and nurses etc.

Administration

Our Administrative Assistants provide an important link for patients with the practice enquiries regarding, medical reports, medical records correspondence scanning and prescriptions.

Secretaries

Handle patient referrals, private letters , practice correspondence and act as liaisons with hospitals and community clinics for the GP’s.
